I’ve just spent a week in California, and some astounding things happened. Among the highlights:

The California Supreme Court confirmed the outcome of the referendum on gay marriage (a battle that makes little sense to me, apart from social justice issues), which is now out until a new law is passed. There were demonstrations all over the country, including this one on Hollywood Boulevard.

My longtime friend Luca (seen here while embracing the void) took me to the Desert: Joshua Tree, the Mojave, Death Valley, Zabriskie Point – the lot. It’s an almost unbelievably amazing place, both as one would expect and very different in many ways: a major blast.

Queueing to see the David Lynch photo exhibition (cute, but not quite up to his other stuff) I met by chance a persons I truly adore: the one and only GX Jupitter-Larsen. I didn’t even know he had moved to L.A. We’re good friends, but have somehow lost track of each other in the past few years: a bad mistake, as he’s a great guy, a longtime friend and a fabulous artist.
